Hi,

I've got a '94 944T with about 140,000 miles on it. It's got an awful sounding knock/rattle coming from the rear suspension. The sound appears to be coming from the right hand side rear corner but it's hard to pinpoint exactly where the noise is coming from when you're driving the car. The happens whenever I hit any sort of bump in the road. It sounds like something's quite loose or some bushing back there is pretty much shot.

I just had a look under the car and I couldn't really see that anything was wrong with any of the rear suspension bushings but there are quite a few that you can't really get a good look at without taking things apart. Of the ones that I could get a decent look at I couldn't see any that were obviously cracked or worn out.

The 700/900 FAQ has some good tips for hunting for worn rear suspension bushings but I was wondering if anyone else has some other tips or suggestions that would make it easier to troubleshoot the rear suspension bushings and isolate the problem ?


Which bushing(s), if any, is/are usually the first one(s) to go in the rear suspension on those cars ?
