speed control cleaning / adjusting 900

the factory speed control on my 1995 940 is acting strange. When I set the speed control, the car speed will drop 3 to 4 mph before the unit takes over control of the accelerator. Also, the resume speed portion of the switch does not work. Is this a function of something that can be cleaned/adjusted, or has some part of the speed control broken (cannot be fixed)?
