87 245 surging engine while at traffic stops 200

this is a 5 speed with 195k ,,i have replaced the fuel pump relay and about 6" of wire connected to the plug which i took from a 90 240...i soldered those wires to the 87's which i had snipped...does not seem to be related to the surging,i had a new 85 245 back in 1985 that did the same thing at 50k and never found out what it was before my friend totaled it...any tips?thanks in advance,Kris
