Starting problem with '93 945 turbo 900 1993

Had the battery checked in July. Autozone said it was ok. I've had problems with the car starting if it sits a week, but I always assumed that it was the approx. 200ma drain by the radio that did it. However, on October 22 I drove this car 4.5 hours, so I know the battery was charged. Then I drove it to work every day for 5 days (about 1.5 miles each way). Then on the following Sunday, it wouldn't start, sounding like weak battery. Seemed odd, but I figured the short drives hadn't recharged the battery sufficiently. I recharged the battery. I tried to start it last Saturday after it had sat for a week. As expected, it didn't start so I got out the battery pack and tried to jump it, but it wouldn't start (first time that had happened). I put the Vector battery charger (with float mode) on the battery and set it to 2A (I always figured the slower charge was better). When the charger indicated a full charge, I'd wait a few hours and start it again (kind of like topping off the tank). I did that twice. I then tried to start the car and it barely started (slow cranking). Starter drawing too many amps? How do I check this? Testing battery after it starts shows 14.2V, so I assume alternator is working. Is it putting out enough amps? Can this be checked? TIA for any help.
