Finished installing the new rear trailing arm poly bushings from IPD including the new outer shells that the bushing are pressed into. I was having a problem getting the outer metal sleeves to seat all the way using the homemade bushing tool as described in previous posts. I followed the directions in the brickboard archives, http://www-ese.fnal.gov/People/wilcer/volvo_trailing_arm_bushing_tool.htm, on the tool. Everything worked fairly well in removing the old bushings except for my bottoming out the nut and getting the bolt cross-threaded coming back out. Anyway I was having the above mentioned problem installing the new shells. I redesigned the pusher part of the tool to solve the problem. The new pusher now fits inside the new sleeves about 1/4 inch and then has a lip from there back to the end of the pusher. I milled down the front to fit inside and then milled down the rest to be smooth. I then welded another sleeve around the smooth part and milled it down to about 2.200 inches which gave the exact clearance for the pusher to pass through the bushing holder. As you know the poly bushings are split bushings with a center sleeve to hold the connecting bolt. Usally you can hand install them into the sleeve but on occasion you need some small help from the tool. Other than that the tool was fairly easy to make and surprisingly easy to use.
