I started using synthetic on over a year ago and had to repace the front main seal. A few weeks later the rear is seeping, leaving an oz. on the drive after a few miles. Not a lot oil just messy and makes the under side stink.. The Volvo dealer said the rear seal is a $960.00 repair but suggested I go back to regular oil for a while as it may stop the leak. He said the new oils are too slick and cause the seals to fail by keeping them open and weak.
Is this possible, or would you get the repair done? The
local repair shop says he will do the rear seal for $260.00 total as he did the front a few week ago,
The car is clean runs good and we love it and plan to keep it..
Is it possible the seeping can be cured or is this a joke. My 95 miata valve cover started seeping after I used the same oil in it. The rear volvo seals are the same that came on the car in 93.
