replacing the clutch on an '83 240: rotating the tranny to get it out? 200

Hi all,

According to my manual, once you have the transmission unbolted on a 240 manual, you have to rotate it to get it out. During this rotation, is the transmission shaft still stuck into the pilot bearing, or do you back it out some, then rotate? In other words, is there the potential to damage the shaft and/or pilot bearing during this operation.

I'm pretty clear on what's involved in replacing a clutch, except for this rotation thing. I assume that you have to keep the transmission supported during the rotation? Sounds tricky.

Thanks,

monty
