240 '89 badly running motor 200 1989

This post is for a friend's car:

Recently aquired 240 for a winter car. 200K+ on it. Has been running fine, other than maybe some excess fuel consumption. automatic, B230f.

The other day at a stop the engine started to 'shake'.
It feels as if it is running on 3 of 4. Removal of cylinder#2 ignition wire, car runs the same, hence there is a problem with cylinder 2.

- car is in drivable condition, though fuel smell - diring for two days now.
- very poor power expecially uphill;
- no fuel in fpr vacuum side;
- replaced ignition wires, distributor, and spark plug, no change

He claims that about 30 minutes to this happening the car was driven a "bit" harder than usual.

Is it remotely possible that there is internal engine damage (i.e. broken valve)? Could a timing belt jump cause this condition?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Thanks,
Greg Mustang
