Wind noise at A-Pillar 200

Among the symphony/cacophony of sounds in my recently acquired '87 240/5 is a lot of whooshing from the driver's side A-pillar. I suspect this is more than what might be expected from a "brick" with rain gutters and am exploring some fixes beyond lubing the weatherstrip, which didn't help:

1) Replace the weatherstrip. Crazy expensive and might not make any difference.

2) Realign the door on the hinge. I'm extrapolating from what I would do in my house. Might not work on a car! But I'm going to need to replace a hinge anyway because the hold-open thingy snapped off and my knee is tired of getting whacked by the door.

3) Build up layers of electrical tape on the body side of the door opening. Aesthetically dubious, but very, very cheap.

Got a 4, 5, or 6 for me, or have feedback on 1/2/3? Thanks much,

DM
