Blown Water Pump Seal 700 1990

Just had a new radioator and water pump put into my 1990 760 turbo. About 2 weeks later the water pump seal blew and had to be replaced. I noticed that IPD recommends that when you replace your radioator to replace the overflow resevoir cap with one of the lower preasure black caps. This car has the green cap. Anyone had this happen before?
