I backed the car up this morning and pulled it up onto my ramps. As an afterthought, I grabbed the A&B Auto header pipe from FCP and a straightedge to check the flange. Cat flange was perfect. Manifold flange was f'ing trash. Off probably 1/16" between the middle and the outside. I'm now, as experienced by another BB member, thouroughly pissed off. Not only at the manufacturer, but also at myself for not checking before today.
On a good note, though, I don't need to drve the car until thursday. I plan on taking off the old stuff today (99% of the hassle, I'm expecting), then moving on to other projects. I'm hoping to get a replacement out of FCP (the bosal pipe, since I was also too lazy to check and see that the O2 sensor is in the manifold) early next week, put it all together and be done.
So that rant being over, does anyone have any experience with the Bosal pipe from FCP? Good product? Or am I setting myself up for failure? I suppose that, if that one's bad too, I could find my way to a machine shop to flatten the flange, but shouldn't a $100 piece of bent pipe come that way from the factory??
