Well, you know how it goes. You can't get a new toy until you get rid of one of the ones you have. I found another 90 745 that I like, and it's a car I know the history of. I sold it about 8 years ago to a former science teacher of mine from high school. This was when I worked at the used-Volvo dealership. Man has it already been that long? 1998 doesn't seem like that long ago.
Anyway back then it had 130K on it. Now it's got 223K. The body is very nice and the price is attractive. But I can't get it till I make driveway space... so the "spare" is up for sale.
This is a nice looking 88 245DL automatic. I bought it a little over a year ago, with 178K. Now had 190K. The speedo may be off by a few hundred but nothing significant- it broke for a couple weeks while I had it. It's had a lot of new parts including trailing arm bushings. I did the timing belt and seals, flame trap, tuneup, throttle service, front end work, new rear calipers, new front pads, new trans mount, shifter bushings, and a lot of minor stuff.
I replaced the AC compressor with a used one when the old one seized. The AC worked till that point. The new/used one was supposedly good but I can't seem to get a charge into the system. It turns and I have power steering back.
Otherwise everything works. The heater fan has lately cut out on me intermittently. It's not a bad motor- when it runs it sounds fine. I think it's just a loose connection from rummaging around in the dash installing the stereo. It does NOT have a noisy fan motor. It starts right up and runs well. It seems a little doggy till it warms up but I'm used to driving my other 2 5-speed cars that run differently.
It's got blue vinyl, with just the beginnings of cracks in the driver's seat. The rest is perfect. The seatback foam needs some attention- you know the drill. It's driveable as is. With a seat rebuild it would be even nicer.
The body has some typical rust. The rockers are solid. There's some under the driver's seat. There's some in the rear filler panel behind the bottom cargo bin inside the hatch. It's a typical New England car, but it's not on its last legs by any means. It can be driven as is. It does not have huge gaping holes in the rockers like some 240s get.
It's $750 with a set of Virgos, or $600 with steel wheels. I have snows or regular tires on the Virgos. It's in Connecticut and is registered. It can be driven without issues anywhere but I'm not going to deliver it more than an hour away.
You can email me at -- myvwsgotme (at) snet (dot) net -- or come see it any time if you're in the area. The car has a clean CT title, in my possession. No scams, out-of-country sales, fraudulent check schemes, delivery companies, or any of that BS. Cash sale, local sale, take it away, enjoy.
First come first served.
