I have a 1986 240DL wagon which has developed a problem with the fuel gauge. I did not use the car for almost 2 years and it just sat outside exposed to the elements in Chicago, IL. Prior to this the car ran fine with no such issues. I tried to start the car a couple of weeks ago to get the car inspected and had to get it towed. The mechanic had to replace all 4 rotors and pads and the fuel pump relay to get the car finally on the road. I noticed 2 more issues:
1. The car does not go to the 4th gear (I am suspecting a relay problem) and,
2. The fuel gauge does not work either.
I am a bit concerned about the FUEL GAUGE not working and am approaching all the experienced VOLVO owners on this forum for help in resolving these issues.
Thanks in advance,
SJ
