Greetings,
I have a 93 240 classic wagon with 320K and an occasional brief electrical cutout of the headlights and instrument cluster lighting. Since I drive in the Colorado mountains at night this can really get your attention quick
on a winding mountain road.
I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and a possible recommendation on what aspect of the related wiring may be a likely culprit?
The cutout is usually breif (and unfortunately not readily reproduceable), not
related to bumps or rough roads, and doesn't appear to impact the engine's electrical continuity (since the engine does not sputter like with a loose engine ground) when the headlights cut out. Both the headlights and the instrument cluster lighting appear to be tied together in the cutout. I'm sure it could be a loose ground or connection but its tough to confirm when I can't reproduce the symptoms in the garage. I am wondering if the headlight switch relay ever comes down with this type of intermittent behavior with age? Thanks for any recommendations. .
