Hello all,
The last round of emissions test on the wagon shows that the carb is in need of a rebuild. Or at least a good cleaning.
Currently I have a manual choke webber with the origional sea-level jets, and Im now at aprox 6,000 ft.
So that gets me thinking: since I'm looking at a carb cleaning/rebuild, then why not go with the origional dual side drafts?

I have the origional pair of Stromberg 175cd2-se's sitting on the shelf.
I also have an extra, electric choke webber and manifold sitting next to them.
People tend to swear a lot when talking about the strombergs, but I had pretty good luck rebuilding the 150CDs on my old Volvo powered boat and they seem to be pretty good carbs. Granted they are the simplest forms of the Stromberg CDs; no bypass valve, mixture screw, or cold start valve (they have a cold start bar). The other thing I liked about them is that you can adjust the running mixture without changing jets or neddles.

So the question is: Are the 175CD2-SE's worth rebuilding, or did they just get screwed up by all the extra valves and such hanging off of them?
Or, would I be better off finding a pair of good, rebuildable SU S6 or HIF6's?
If so, anyone got a set they would want to trade for a decent weber?
