Hello,
This morning for the first time in a couple of weeks we had a misty shower. Drove the wifes Tarus to Church this morning and got a warning ticket for a bulb being out and speeding (Ok my wife taught his son in school and he cut me some slack). When working on getting the light assembly off this afternoon, kept hearing this soft buzzing sound. Got her car all checked out, and the buzz seemed to be from Inga. Opened the drivers door and buzz was coming from inside the car. Turned the ignition to II and it stopped. Car started right up but the buzz returned when the the key went to I. Kept digging around and it was the fuel pump relay. It was full and I mean full of H20. Installed a donor wiper motor five weeks ago and it came apart. Made this bad sound, jerked, grind, snap, and thats all folks the gear box came apart. Ordered a new motor and installed it. Must not have gotten the seal in very good but is was a new one from Volvo. Did the job at night in a wind and the temp was in the low 40's (by the South Texas temp scale that is bitter cold). Reset the motor today and the seal was loose, Solved putting it on correctly and by the RTV 162 Gasket across the top of the wiper motor. But my less than 1 year old relay is shot. Dried it out, reinstalled it, and Inga fired right up. But when walking by the back of the wagon could still hear a buzz outside the car. Reached in and jerked the relay and it stopped. One or both of the pumps running all the time. Installed one of the three spares from PUP and no buzz and she starts right up.
Wonder how may FPR were ruined by that stupid leak?
Well when the RTV drys, will go the car wash and do the leak check on the new seal. Well glad it was found today instead of early in the morning.
Regards,
PT
