Volvo or aftermarket coolant resevoir 200 1989

Looked on Ebay, VLV, and FCP and most are aftermarket. I was wondering if the aftermarket tanks are just as good as the OEM? Ebay and VLV has used ones...is buying a used coolant tank recommended? Also, what's that hose called that connects to the tank nipple and to the the radiator? It's fairly thin.

I've been meaning to change my tank, since it's showing cracks and is at that stage where it looks brittle. I should sav ethis part for another post, but just want to know if the tank can be changed without emptying the cooling system because that has been done when I got a new rad in about a year ago. Turkey baster method OK?
