Low beams are fine. High beams will very occasionally go out completely for a moment and come right back on.
I have read the archives and so far have:
1. Cleaned the wire connections behind the headlights.
2. Cleaned and sanded the grounds
3. Checked wire condition
Some background info - This car has cruise control (works) and the switch is installed within the cruise control stalk. It is very expensive to replace this switch for that reason. I have had on and off problems with this switch for a number of years. Previously, the high beam would NOT switch off (down to low beam). Spraying the switch periodically with electrical cleaner has cured this specific problem.
In case this helps, the problem seemed to start about the time I replaced both headlight bulbs.
BTW - I have ruled out both relays as the problem seems to be directly related to the operation of the switch. But could I be wrong about this??
Some time ago, I seem to remember reading in the archives about things that can be done to improve the operation of that switch. Maybe cleaning the ground or something of that nature.
Can anybody help?
Thanks all,
Jim
