My teen driver...ugh! 900

I spent a considerable amount of time this past Fall putting my '93 940 wagon (209K miles) back on the road after a year of sitting in the driveway waiting for my 16 year old son to get his driving slip. It got new rotors, calipers, parking brakes, alternator, head (it had a pre-existing head gasket leak that I needed to fix a second time), tail light lenses, tires, coolant and tranny flushes, and good a "scrubbing". A quick 2400 miles later he slid it off a snowy road and totalled it. He's fine...a little shaken up, but very disappointed. I could have been worse. The damage to the car is concentrated in the rear, so all the new parts are salvageable. I'd like to replace it with a similar car, since I'm familiar with basic maintenance procedures on it. This car's VIN is/was: YV1JW883XP1071835

What is the best way to find a car with the same equipment? What should I be avoiding?

Thanks.
Marty
