240DL Stereo Speaker Wiring 200 1987

I am replacing the stereo in my 87DL sedan.Removed the broken Blaupunkt to replace with an Alpine. I have made the necessary changes with the Alpine wiring harness. Now I'll try to explain this frustration as best I can. The wiring harness has two connectors(I don't know what else to use as a word)that plug in the volvo wiring. One of these is a white "male end" with wires colored black, white, red, etc for battery, ground and associated functions. The other connector is a smaller gray:female end" with purple and green wires ;it's for the speakers. It fits into a gray "male end" plug with green and purple wires.
Now here's my problem I pulled that last plug out of somewhere so I could change the wires on the other end to fit the alpine harness. This dark gray plug is now nowhere to be found. I recalled having to pull down a mass of wires from under the stgeering column and can't find this stupid plug. I'm wondering if it had a shorter wire leading back somewhere which would lend it to being easily pulled back.

If anyone can understand what in the world I'm saying well I thank you. And then after understanding my rambling and you know the the dark gray connector then any assistance is most appreciated.

Merry Christmas!
