Pulled the Water Pump today (as suspected, no gasket!) and on the inner part of the pump vane-wheel (inside the axle where it's closest to the block) there is some REALLY hard material that looks like a bad JB weld job - it's rusty. Conversely it is on the block as well... Inside the pump chamber there was this same rusty material - Pump works great! But I'm not sure if this is the first horseman for the Water Pump or is this just age...
Oh yeah, went to the sister-site of my favorite junkyard and scored a Nissens Triple Core Copper Radiator for $40 - very clean! Pulled out of a well maintained GL. It has a two-tang sensor on the corner closest to the windshield fluid container... What is this for? Temp? Pressure? Level?
Just wanna know if people get rusty water pumps, too...
