alternator panel litght not working '93 940T 900 1993

My '93 945Turbo has died on me couple of times now. I tested the alternator and it was not charging. The regulator brushes were worn out and the alternator did not sound to good as I turned it. I charged the battery and installed a brand new alternator/regulator. The same day I installed the alternator I drove to the airport at night (30 miles) and left the car parked in the long term parking for two weeks while out of the country. When I came back, the car started right up, I drove back home (30 mi) at night, and the following day I drove 20 miles to work before the car die on me again. I believe the alternator was not charging.

I believe the problem has to do with the small red cable coming out of the alternator to the alternator light on the instrument panel (or some grounding problem).

Today, I tried grounding the small red cable directly to the battery while having the ignition key on the II position (engine off), the alternator light on the instrument panel didn't work. I took the panel off and exchanged the bulb for the oil indicator light with the one for the alternator light and the bulb works! Even though the alt light on the panel does not work the alternator seems to be charging (for now): I turned the engined on and with a tester I read 12.5 v coming out of the battery and the alternator, after rubbing the engine the voltmeter reads 13.65 out of the battery and 13.7 out of the alternator (I even tried with the headlights on, etc.).

Could anyone help me fix the panel alternator light problem? Is there any site out there where I could find a wiring diagram? Any help would be appreciated.
