Thermostat Question - Overheat 200

I've read some brickboard posts about faulty, or non-opening thermostats and overheating issues.

I just replaced my coolant and dropped in a brand new Vernat 92 degree thermostat. After a couple short trips I noticed that my temp gauge is increasing when at idle. Once I rev it or I start driving, the temp drops back.

Is this typical for a new thermostat? Will this thermostat "break-in" or should I call FCP for a new replacement?

Cheers,
Greg
