Good evening Bricksters. I'm looking for some high compression input. Diesel that is. I have a 24t that is down for the count. The t-belt is slack and before opening her up, I want to get some opinions on what slack really means. This belt can be moved sideways at least half an inch, perhaps slightly more. I have differing input so far on whether slipped belts may have stripped teeth or not, but my experience is with gas engines only. I've never had a slipped belt strip teeth. Usually if it is slack enough to slip, the teeth just slide right past the sprockets. The only time I've seen stripped teeth is when a component jams solid. Does anyone have the actual spec for slack in the diesel's belt?
Thanks,
Dave
