e-fan install questions 200 1981

We ran into a "little" problem with the special aluminum viscous clutch fan I was using on my '81 240 (B23E). The fan is toast so I'm now thinking very seriously of converting that car over to an electric fan. I've found lots of different articles on t-bricks and brickboard on how to do it but I thought I'd check with the group and see if anyone had any particular recommendations for how to do it or what type of temp sensor/switch I should use and how I should wire it all up.

Should I go with the GM fan that almost bolts right in (http://personal.linkline.com/dbarton/fanconversion/) or is there some other type of fan that people are using more now ? I doubt very much that I'm going to be able to find a 940 that I can get an e-fan out of at my local PnP so I'm probably going to have to go with some other type of fan system.

I'm thinking that I'd like to go with an adjustable temp switch so I could set the kick-in and shut-off temps to whatever seems to work best. Any recommendations on what type of sensor/switch to get and where to get one ?

If possible, I'd like to have the fan set up so that if necessary it can keep running for a while after the engine's been shut off. The trick will be finding an appropriate controller that will shut the fan off after a set period of time. My 940 has that type of a system in it. Does anyone know what type(s) of cars I might be able to get such a controller from ?

I've heard that SAABs have good 50 Amp e-fan relays in them so I might try to snag a relay from an old SAAB.

Comments ? Suggestions ?

Thanks,

Roger
