Transmission question 900 1991

Ok, so I park my wagon over the holidays for one week, come back, drive her and suddenly she doesn't shift into 4th until the car is very warmed up (30 min). Then the rest of the shifting gets late (3500rpm plus) so I take it in. Diagnosis, torque convertor is dying/died, replace solenoid etc... Wrangle with the shop and eventually get a replacement tranny, warrantied for 12 months.

So, drive now "fixed" car and it still will not shift into 4th until it is very warmed up. Call the shop and they say that these have a thermistor in them and it will not let the car shift until it is suitably warmed up.

Our family has owned/currently owns 1 960, 1 240, 4 940T and none of them have every had any delay in shifting into 4th gear immediatly when driving.

So, is the shop right and all my other car's have "broken" transmissions or are the full of it and this "new/used" tranny is still not working correctly. At this time, we currently have one other 940T wagon that is driven every day from my house (identical) weather and it is having no problems.

Thoughts....

Thanks,
Bridget
