S90, loud Creaking sound over bumps S90-V90

My S90 makes fairly loud creaking sounds when going over bumps. They seem to come from the front half, sometimes from the front end, sometimes, they appear to be coming from somewhere around the driver seat area.
There is no obvious culprits, like hanging splash pans, etc.
Sway bar links look well, and I cannot reproduce the sound by bouncing on the left or right front corners.
It is intermittent, and it seems to be more pronounced after the car has been sitting for a few days.

Any ideas, suggestions?
