m 47 countershaft bearing removal

Hi
I am helping my neighbor replace the first gear syncro in
his m 47 we have gotten to the pont where we have the case and the main shat and counter shaft in place I am assuming we have to drop the countershaft
to get the main shaft apart. I can't figure out how one would do this any help?
