1989 740 GL : RPM cycling between 1100 and 1500

Hi Everyone,

I have a 1989 740 GL with 108,000 miles. When I depress on the accelarator in park or neutral and reach about 1500rpm the engine drops out and RPM falls to about 1000/1100 and then surges back to 1500. If I keep my foot constant on the pedal the engine will continue cycling this way in a constant rythm.

I have cleaned TB / adjusted TPS / changed FPR / cleaned IAC / new plugs n cables/ repeired leak in air bellow/ kicked the tires and drank some iced tea.

Can anyone point me in an intelligent direction in trying to overcome this issue. Tha car seems to be running mildly rich , as well as determined by the smell.

Thanks in Advance
