Better Performance - Fuel Economy - Better Starts 700 1992

This is the first Regina I have owned.

The time I've spent working on this one so far - has been with the Sender pump motor replacement..That was the last issue that caused the car to be out of commission. The next phase of work is to improve perfromance, fuel economy and driveability.

What I have noticed this engine (with the Regina FI) configuration does not have a coil but a "Module" mounted to the firewall.

Is that what you are talking about ? Or the Ignition Amplifier on the inside of the fender near the battery ? - Actually, I have not looked to see if there even IS an amplifier on this one, I am just going by what the '86 had on it - The Bosch 2.2 System.

The weather has been a little bit too brisk to be out in the driveway working but < > this week sometime I will pull it into my pal Dickie's heated garage and take a look at it.

In the meantime, I have the spare TB off of the '86 in my hand and I am cleaning and polishing the hell out of it. The TPS clicks as soon as the wafer moves. It is shining clean on the inside and really smooth. I'll slap this on with a new gasket when I stop at Dickie's garage this week and inspect the electrical connector to that Ignition Module you are talking about AND I'll look for the amplifier on the fender wall while I am at it, if it even has one that is.

I also have a few extra ignition amplifiers, a replacement AMM (not the 007 from the Turbo), and a few sets of like brand new ballast resistor assemblies as well. So, if you recommend a swap out, I am ready.

The car is running really great, although it doesn't have that "lift up off the ground feeling" when I get on it like the Turbo had.

This one just takes a little bit of time to start in the morning - not so much to get started, it catches on the first or second turn now but, it dies a few times before it stays running on its own, sort of like it is running lean instead of rich. It is not a big issue, I'd just like to get it straightened out so it runs like it is supposed to run.

Air intake Temp sensor maybe ? I have not been in the airbox yet to clean it like Mr. Zorak did to his.

Right now, after a fill up, I have 135 miles on the trip odometer and the gas gauge is at about halfway in between full and a half of tank (3/4 tank) - so it looks like the mileage is right up there (i.e. not running too rich).

What do you guys think ?
