Where does the alternator wire clamp attach? 200 1989

I am putting a third alternator in my 89 240. I did the first and a mechanic did the second. I was putting the third in tonight and noticed a wire clamp on the wiring harness loose. The mechanic must have taken it off, but I can't figure out where it went. It looks like it should be on the pivot bolt but the holes in clamp are too small for that.
