Fuel injector caps --Help!! 200 1993

I am replacing the seals and caps on my injectors for my 93 245. The problem is the yellow caps that come in the bosch seal kits are longer than the original caps on the injectors, and don't seem to snap on. Is there a trick to using these new caps? I am reusing the thinner yellow spacer that was on the injectors as the grey ones that came in the kit are too big.

I have only done the first injector, but you have to mangle the old cap to get it off.
