ps rack out, should i change the left motor mount? 200 1992

i heard it was much easier to change the left motor mount with the ps rack out of the way. it wasn't my intention to do this, but i was wondering if it is really so much easier it is worth doing? also, i've researched a bunch of the motor mount replacement posts and clearly understand not to jack up the motor on the drain plug. where exactly is it recommended to put the wood block? quickly looking at it, there only seems to be about 3" on the front/rear sides of the drain plug for a block to go?

btw - the car has 145k miles.
