1990 240 wagon, Idled like crap, tuned on the CE light, so I investigated and found a huge gaping vacuum leak in the MAF to TB duct. Fixed it, cleared codes, after awhile the car ran better (relearning fuel curve?) but idled high. Later began surging at idle, slowly building to a crecendo at 1500 or so rpm, then quickly dropping back to 800ish rpm, over and over. Today the CE light came back on, so I pulled the codes and as expected, got a bunch of mixture related stuff, 2-3-2, 2-3-1-, 2-2-1. Tested O2 sensor, low voltage, showing lean, very lean (0-25mv). Disconnected MAF inlet hose and blocked off intake to force rich condition, O2 sensor shows 700-800mv. Been all over it with a can of ether and visually inspecting for vacuum leak, can't find a thing, even though it acts like a huge leak. Aaaaargh! What ails this thing??? (can I get a manifold to just put a pair of su's on it and be done with it??) I have a feeling this is a common syndrome and someone out there has been here before...
