1997 965 (V90) cargo door gas springs.......interchangeability with ? 900 1997

Cold weather (for here in Houston) and a ten-year-old car = failed cargo door struts, plus very unhappy wife.

Called the dealer parts counter - $88.58 per side, plus tax and delivery.

Minor dilemma in that any replacements from a junkyard will be ten or more years old, BUT - thay may be low cost and have a few years left. It would be very good to know: are these struts are the same as used on a 745 or 945?

I have looked at the FAQs, which are an absolutely huge asset, and Aye Roll has a good piece on replacement, which I will use, but I need more for this one.

The struts (parts clerk asked if I meant "gas springs?") have a plastic housing covering the attachment points at both ends. They do not look like my most-familiar 245 struts which I could change out blindfolded - almost.

Any tips on removing this new-fangled type?

Your responses are always appreciated, thanks in advance.

Regards,

Bob
