'94 940 tach is running reversed? 900

The tachometer needle is over on the high RPM side. With the engine running, it will rev backwards but doesn't indicate RPMs at idle.
The red/white wire is on the correct side and the blue wire opposite it on the coil.
I didn't want to reverse the wires without advice, since it starts easy and runs fine?
