At 102k, after pressing the odometer reset button (while not moving), the ODO stopped working after 3 tenths of a mile. I discovered that the original ODO gear was missing one tooth so I replaced with a 26 tooth gear, but no deal. I then installed a new 25 tooth gear and still no deal. All the other ODO gears look clean and intact.....I'm fairly sure I put it back together correctly. The top gear goes teeth up with the 25 tooth gear under it with the center hub extension facing the motor. I still don't see how the whole gear set up actually moves the ODO wheels??? I just made sure that it all went back the same way it came out!!
Can the stepper motor be tested to see if it is working? Can just the ODO drive motor/board be replaced without having to get a whole used ODO assembly? Does anyone know of a good source for rebuilding the existing ODO since the simple cure did not work? If so how much?
Any suggestions would help...I'm getting good at taking the dash cluster out - I can do it by feel now without looking!!
