What is the 'right' way to check for tail shaft bushing wear 700

I'm chasing a vibration problem in my 745T wagon that is really getting to me. I've done mounts and everything else in FAQ and still a buzz box at 2200 to 3000 rpm. The noise goes away when I put the car in neutral. What would that mean? No load on the drive train... so, does that mean it's not the drive shaft? Could it still be the tail shaft bushing. I see no leakage around mine, it "feels" tight, but how do I really check it? Does a loose one really feel loose when you grab a hold of it?

thanks,
mike
