Finaly, I had to bring my 1991 240SE station wagon to a local shop to fix the idle problem. I have been checking it myself and I have done almost everything I could think of, including cleaning throttle body, check vaccum lines, flame trap, temperature sensor and more.
The shop charged me $92 (part and labor)for replacing the intake maniford gasket. And that fixed the problem! I was happy. I could have done it myself, but I never suspected the gasket because it was only a year old and I put it in myself when I replaced the engine. It was bad gasket material, I think!
My question is, how does the intake maniford gasket affect the idle? but not the normal run? The car was running very smoothly as soon as I step on the gas!
