I know someone who has a 940 and their tailgate lock doesn't work. I have exactly the same problem with my 740. In fact I can't remember when it ever did work. The key will only go about 3/4 into the lock. I've always unlocked the tailgate from the drivers door. I'm guessing this may be a common problem on 740s and 940s. Has anyone found the answer yet?

Another question I have is...why do engines become louder as they get older? I've been told that my car sounds like an aeroplane. I know it's the wear and tear of the engine but does anyone know exactly what parts cause it?

I'm thinking about doing a little restoration on the car in the summer but want to put the money into the right parts.
