We recently had a factory trained Volvo mechanic move to my little town. Well, I sent him some business and he's sort of befriended me, and I think I have him talked into pulling the motor from my '87 740T and putting it into my '91 245. This might be the end of our friendship, cause I know this is going to be a bunch of custom work and he sorta already quoted me a price, which is about half what the job should cost.

So I'm rubbing my hands together, thinking I'm going to build the ultimate 240 Volvo here. I really, really want a manual transmission but don't have the flywheel with the sensor in my stash-o-parts, though I do have a M46 and the pedals. It will likely end up just getting the AW71 since an auto-manual conversion complicates things significantly.

So I'm looking for any tips, advice or anything, on this conversion. Do I use a 240 or a 740 intercooler? I know the wiring is going to be a mess since the computers have to be swapped, but I'm going to be the apprentice and I can cut and crimp as good as the next guy.

I'm going to do the complete suspension at the same time and will likely even spring for some IPD bars.

If this works out, I'm going to meld two $300 cars into the 240 of my dreams!
