I know this is a oft repeated topic, but I think my question is a bit unique. I again thank the board for valuable advice - saved me many headaches and $$.
I am going to replace my single line mc with a original (but rebuilt) dual line type that came only on the 1968(?) U.S. models - the one with the vertically oriented mounting holes - perfect fit to the original firewall mounting holes. It is not a new aftermarket type mc
So I know that the line from one circuit should connect directly to the line running to the rear block that splits the line to the rear drums. The line from the other circuit connects to the block on the firewall (has the brake switch) that splits to the front calipers. Please somebody correct my if I am wrong on this.
My questions:
Which circuit on this type of dual line mc goes to the front brakes, and which to the rear?
Which way should the reservoir be oriented? (given that the reservoir has two portions - one has a larger capacity than the other).
It seems to me that the primary circuit (the one closest to the firewall) should go to the front brakes and the reservoir oriented so that the larger capacity portion feeds the primary circuit and thus is closest to the firewall (more fluid for the fronts). However in looking at the volvo manual set up it looks like the secondary circuit (the one farthest from the firewall) is used for the front brakes and the reservoir is oriented with the larger capacity feeding the secondary ciruit (i.e. the larger capacity is farthest from the firewall) - although the manual has some differences with proportioning values and booster etc.
Before I start installing lines - I would like to know the wisdom of this group as to how to install this particular mc.
Thanks so muchly.
