Hello all,
A few weeks back, I was driving home during a snowstorm when I started experiencing loss of power - basically, the more I would step on the gas, the slower my 240 would go. Eventually, it died on the side of the highway and wouldn't restart (it cranked fine, but just wouldn't start up). I tried every few minutes, but no dice. After the tow truck got there, I tried again and it started up fine - but after killing the engine, it wouldn't start again. I took it into the shop, where they diagnosed the issue as fuel-related, and replaced the fuel pump and filter. For a week or so, everything was fine...
Then, last week, I went out one morning to start it and it had very similar symptoms - cranked fine, but wouldn't start up. I gave up after a while and drove my other ride to work. After work, I tried again and it started fine. It exhibited the same behavior several times. I thought that the problem might be related to moisture - the times it wouldn't start seemed to have that in common - so I misted the engine compartment until I hit the 25 amp blade fuse indirectly and it died, then wouldn't start again. So I dried everything out, cleaned all the connections, replaced the fuse, and sealed everything up with several layers of duck tape. While I was in there I also replaced the cap and rotor, the fuel pressure regulator, and the under-dash fuel pump relay w/ a brand new one. After that, it started up fine and drove great. for another few days... THEN, it had the same no-start problem this week. Today I got it running again, and it was working fine while I tested things out - until I pushed/rocked the body near the gas fill cap. At that point, it sputtered out and died and hasn't been able to start up since.
All the diagnostics are coming up fine, and I can hear the main fuel pump for a second after I crank. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the novel above...
