Center Support Bearing Replacement 900

I am about to replace the center bearing and support donut on my '94 960. I have read all the threads and FAQ's on the subject and the job seems pretty straight forward. My question is whether or not I am able to do the job by removing the front coupling, center support bracket, and separate the drive shaft halfs without disconnecting the rear shaft??

Also, I read about a set-screw that holds the 2 shaft's together. I haven't seen this set-screw on my drive shaft.

The pictures and diagrams I have seen lead me to believe that it is not necessary to remove the back shaft from the differential.
