Because my A/C works great, I decided to keep it and move all of the components from my B18 over to
my new B20.
Prior to RepairmanJack's recent post indicating otherwise, I had assumed that the A/C system bolted up the same way on a B18 as on a B20.
That is, there are two main A/C brackets mounted to the engine: One that the compressor is bolted to, and one that the tensioner pulley mounts to:

The pulley bracket is mounted in 3 places: 2 longer head bolts and one small bolt running into the front of the head:

Since my "new" B20 is already assembled (head bolts properly torqued), (and because I think it's a bit of an idiotic idea to begin with to use head bolts to bolt down anything in addition to the head), I'm not planning on affixing the pulley bracket to the new engine in the same way it was attached to the old.
The current plan is to drill out the two holes that the two head bolts run through and make them clearance holes (so that they don't interfere with said bolts). Additionally, I would drill two additional holes in the bracket to line up with the #1 cylinder injector mounting hole (not the actual injector hole), and an additional 5/16-18 tapped hole that already lives on the head (I'm not sure what it's purpose was, but likely something related to the fuel injection system). And also the bolt running into the front of the block, for which there is already the proper hole:

I'll space it up as necessary. I know it's not nearly as strongly fastened as if it were held down by the head bolts, given the cantilevered force pulling down on the pulley (no pun intended), but I think it'll work.
I'm not clear if RepairmanJack's notion that B18 and B20 engines had different pulley mounts only appplied to 1800's or if this is also the case for 122's (the compressor bracket he posted a picture of is clearly different than the one I have, almost looking as though the compressor is actually mounted on the passenger side of the engine?), but if so, this might be a more elegant solution than what I'm brewing.
Can anyone please:
a) confirm or deny that there is a different type of pulley bracket that was used on 122 B20's
b) let me know if you've got one of these magical brackets that you'd be willing to part with (or where I might search)
As always- you guys rock. Thanks in advance for whatever insight you might bestow upon me.
