164 Teardown Report - valve in cylinder 140-160 1969

I finally got the head off the 164 today and found VERY limited damage.
The valve was bent but the damage to the piston seemed to be limited to the
carbon on its surface. Likewise there was a ding on the valve guide but the
stem of the bent valve guide starts into it OK. (I suspect that I'll need
to replace the guides anyway.) So damage control seems to be limited to
replacing one valve, spring, etc.

I had suspected that one of two "different" lifters I installed when the 2 Isky/IPD/Chevy
lifters I ordered turned out to be OEM type might have come apart causing the
valve to lift too far. I got two hydraulic lifters, gutted them and put in spacers to make them the same height as the rest, and suspected that one had
come apart. It had not but one of them WAS involved although not an apparent cause of the problem, anyway it is still together with the snap ring in place.

Looking at B30 heads, I'll be posting again today.
