Hey there, audio fans!

My '84 sports a circa 2001 Alpine CD player. Which I like just fine, except it is recalcitrant to play home-burned CDs. Sometimes it plays them, sometimes not, sometimes they play halfway then stop.

This alone is enough reason for replacement. It looks like one can get all manner of CD decks for under $100 these days. I actually like the cheaper models better, fewer buttons, less stuff I don't really need.

Are all the major brands pretty much the same these days? Is it just a matter of picking the features I like?
