I bought a metal belly pan for my car. I believe it came off of a late 70s or early 80s 240. The front portion of the pan has five sections that are open and covered with a screen. I've heard that this helps cool the engine, but I'm concerned that it may allow water into the areas that the pan is supposed to protect, such as when I drive through a deep puddle. Is this anything to be concerned of? The plastic belly pans have no such ventilation.
One option I may use is covering the vents with epoxy or body filler.
