Happy to say that we just passed smog in the 84 240. Before our first try we fixed up the vacuum lines, intake hoses, O2 sensor, and manifold seal (also did a throttle body clean up). First time we passed hydrocarbons but were deemed NOX gross polluters.
Second time around we replaced injector seals (about 5 bucks total from NAPA), taped the hot air door shut in the airbox, put some Redline Water Wetter in the cooling system that I just happened to have sitting around, and plugged the vacuum line to the ignition box with a small ball bearing. Passed no problem.
It is hard to believe that the vacuum line trick works so well.
Thanks again everybody,
Mm & Mg
