After reading up on previous posts on the subject, I'm considering installing a clear plastic in-line fuel filter from IPD directly behind the mechanical pump. My 1970 142 currently just has the factory mesh on the top of the pump to strain out sediment. This can't be that effective by itself since Volvo started putting sock-type filters in their fuel tanks just a few years later.
Once I install the new filter, should I remove the original mesh filter so that the pump is not overworked? Should I put another inline filter after the pump as one user recommended? I'm very open to your suggestions and\or experiences on this subject. Thanks.
